Szymon - Medusa

Szymon was one gifted chap. He sadly lost his battle with depression at age 23. His family and some inspired industry folk have banded together to give his unreleased LP  'Tigersapp' the attention it deserves. The third single 'Medusa' is shimmering indie pop. Szymon creates a soundscape that is both reflective and thoughtful. Keep your eyes peeled for 'Tigersapp' (to be released via Eloper Music - distributed by EMI on 21 August.)

Tamper - Be Well

One part Aussie, one part American, New York based Indie duo Tamper just released their debut EP last month. Stand out track “Be well” is wonderfully constructed. They get compared to Alt-J & Glass Animals and I'm a big fan of those two bands. So when their EP was sent to me I instantly fell in love. Be sure to have a listen to the rest of the EP as there are some real gems too discover.

Magic America - Shock Me Sober

Seeing as it's Dry July this month, it seems fitting to share a track titled ‘Shock Me Sober’ from Melbourne garage/psych band Magic America. The guys also just dropped a dandy video clip for the track, which you can check out here. All in all, it's three and a half minutes of sonic psych goodness. This single will be featured on their debut EP, which is going to be released this spring. Till then you can download 'Shock Me Sober' for free below.

Major Leagues - Someone Sometime

Everyone needs someone sometimes. Lennon had Yoko, Cher had Sonny and Gordon had Moore. Me personally, I love cherry cola and a fresh falafel roll from Abdul's. If you haven't had Abdul's, get on it Sydney! So, enough about power couple and tasty eateries. Brisbane garage-pop four-piece Major Leagues have just released a brand new single ‘Someone Sometime’. It's the first single from their forthcoming sophomore EP, which will be released through their new record label Popfrenzy Records. They got some great supports in every city. Go and see what all the fuss it about.

Crayon Fields - She's My Hero

I can't believe it's been 6 years since we heard anything from Melbourne darlings Crayon Fields! I have to be honest, I didn't think they would be back with frontman Geoffrey O’Connor launching a couple side projects in the last couple years (2011’s Vanity Is Forever and 2014’s Fan Fiction). But little did I know, while Geoffrey was keeping busy with new projects, the rest of Crayon Fields continued quietly working on a brand new album 'No One Deserves You' (out 25th September through Chapter Music). New single 'She’s My Hero' is a nice slice of pop with dazzling guitar licks and genuine lyrics. Yep, It's a real good thing they're back.

Uncle Bobby – My Mind Is Already Gone

I remember when my mother introduced me to Uncle Bobby. It was my granddad's 80th and we were all on my neighbours boat called "The Erect Star" (I never knew why my parents were friends with such a creep). Anyway, Uncle Bobby was a real sweet guy. He had this crazy blonde hair, shaped into a perfect bowl. He would play all kinds of psychedelic records for us and sometimes if we were lucky, we would get to jam with him on sitar and trombone.

I guess it's true what they say - two's company, three's a crowd. Sydney dark-pop group MEZKO sidelined their drummer earlier this year. The Sydney duo made up of Kat Harley and Laura bailey just released their latest single 'GOLDEN'. It's atmospheric pop with glimmers of psych, synth and electronica. You can watch their shimmering video for GOLDEN here. And be sure to pick up your copy of the single, when it's released on a limited edition cassette through Moontown Records.

Leah Senior - The City Is A Stream

Born and bred in country Victoria, Melbourne singer-songwriter Leah Senior is something special. Listening to Leah's first single 'The City Is A Stream' from her new album 'Summer's on the Ground', I  was taken back to all those evenings I spent in my younger years, listening to Devendra Banhart on my balcony, watching the sun go down. Without getting too sentimental, those were some great moments. Her music conjures up feelings of nostalgia and longing. And having recently signed to Flightless Records and Remote Control Records, there is plenty to get excited about this young artist.

The Laurels - Zodiac K

A killer new single from Sydney shoe-gazers The Laurels titled 'Zodiac K' has been released this week. The track features a distinctive voice whispering things like "the main thing is you learn from your mistakes, get better and believe in your ability and focus" I wonder if it has to do with the Zodiac Killer? Either way it's a tidy new tune. You can download it for free below and catch them live when they embark on a tour with Pond's frontman Nicholas Allbrook in August.
