Day Ravies - Fake Beach

Sydney’s Day Ravies are something special. I remember listening to their debut album 'Tussle' back in 2013 and thinking to myself how interesting and fresh their sound was. This awesome foursome are back with a new single 'Fake Beach' from their much-anticipated second LP 'Liminal Zones', (out July 10 through Sonic Masala/Strange Pursuits). 'Fake Beach' is a sonic cocktail of raw 90s guitar pop, tantalising synth and topped off with some very dreamy vocals. Bellissimo!

Lonelyspeck - Wring

The Australian music landscape is vast. It's also a music landscape that is ever changing and pushing new boundaries. TEEF Records is very proud to announce a new compilation 'Imperium In Imperio' (meaning ‘Empire Within An Empire’). The unheard tracks from the Australian artists work in the realm of electronica but what binds them most closely is their forward thinking musical concepts. 'Wring' by Adelaide producer-vocalist Lonelyspeck is the first taste from the compilation and boy is it a beauty! You can download 'Imperium In Imperio' on June 1st, with all profits going to OXFAM's Nepal relief fund.

Redspencer - Happy Slow Riverbends

One sunny afternoon back in 2013, two brothers Dave and Aiden McMillian were enjoying a tasty Bubble O Bill. As they stared into the sunset, Dave said to Aiden "You know what bro, I think it's time we stop eating all these Bubble O Bills and do something musical". "What do you have in mind Dave?" Aiden replied excitedly, "We should start a band called Redspencer!". Soon after, the pair enlisted good friend Andre Franco on Bass and the rest is history. 'Happy Slow Riverbends' is their latest groove and the guys will be releasing an upcoming EP (due out early June). Yee Haw.

LANKS - Settle Down

"I found you white and radiant, sleeping quietly, far out through the tides of darkness." This, my friends is a line from a Rupert Brooke poem called Finding (1909). When I heard the new single 'Settle Down' from Melbourne wonder boy LANKS (Will Cuming), it reminded me of Brooke's poetry. Lanks also conjures up the right amount of honest heart ache and soul in his music that keeps me coming back for more. You'll find this single on his upcoming EP 'Banquet' (due out July 3). And be sure to catch him live when he tours this July.

West Thebarton Brothel Party - Misophonia

Misophonia is a rare condition that literally means "hatred of sound". It's triggered by a certain sound loud or soft. I can personally say, I hate it when someone is chewing loudly in my ear or one of those jerks who is constantly clearing their throat on public transport. Argh, I'm getting annoyed just by thinking about it! Lucky, that I can chill out and listen to the new single from West Thebarton Brothel Party's forthcoming debut EP. 'Misophonia' is out now digitally through Mirador Records.

North Arm - Careless

Unrestrained, breezy, refreshing. These are some of the words that could describe Newcastle five-piece North Arm's single 'Careless' (off their debut LP, due out later this year). This song ticks a lot of boxes for me and I can wait to hear the rest of the album.

Last Dinosaurs - Evie

Evie Evie, Evie let your hair hang down! Stevie Wright's 1974 hit was a rock'n'roll classic. After listening to Brisbane indie-pop band Last Dinosaurs new single 'Evie', I realised the title is all these two songs have in common. Don't get me wrong, Dinosaurs create great melody and punchy electronic hooks but where is the rock'n'roll flair? the passion? the Aussie bravado? Sounds like Last Dinosaurs took a couple of Phoenixes and partied at Two Door Cinema Club ;) If 'Evie' is your thing then you can catch them on tour this June/July or wait for their long-awaited second album (due for release later this year).

Angie - Out Of Age

Vocals that rasp, howl and tinge on sounding indifferent is a signature of Sydney musician/artist Angie Garrick aka Angie. She has being busy writing her new solo record 'Free Agent' (due out September through Rice is Nice). 'Out of Age' is the first single from the LP and it was also released with a rad video, which Angie made herself. Comprised of iPhone footage, super 8 clippings and cut out images from some of Angie's favourite books. Angie has created a video that combines together unique videography and old school collage. Angie has a knack for creating interesting content while maintaining her own signature DIY aesthetic. You can find more of her video here at Angie Bermuda.

Big White - You Know I Love You

Chiming guitars, jangly chords, it's Australian garage pop goodness with an 80's twist. Meet Sydney buzz band Big White. The guys just got back from playing a bunch of shows at sxsw in America and have released their latest tune 'You Know I Love You' on cassette through Burger records (grab your copy here).
