Babaganoüj - Too Late For Love

Brisbane's misfits Babaganoüj are back with a new single called 'Too Late For Love'. It's a feel good summer number with plenty of fuzzy guitar, cute girl/guy vocals and it was produced by Sean Cook (Big Scary/Jeremy Neale) so it sounds real fresh in your car stereo. 'Too Late For Love' will be released exclusively on 7” vinyl with bonus B-side '4U'. Grab your copy when they go on tour this March

The Tambourine Girls - Blood and Bones

I always enjoy a good side project. This time it's the work of Deep Sea Arcade's guitarist Simon Relf. The Tambourine Girls were born when Simon was living somewhere on the south coast of NSW and decided to unwind and write some music. With the help of Jack Moffitt (The Preatures), fellow Deep Sea Arcade members Carlos Adura, Nick Weaver and James Manson they recorded an EP called 'The End of Time'. What makes the first single 'Blood and Bones' especially pleasing is the production. Legendary producer Tony Buchen (Andy Bull, The Church, Tim Finn) was a integral component to the recording process. Using analog and digital techniques, he created a sound that is old and new at the same time. A solid first single, I can't wait to hear the rest of The Tambourine Girls’ EP.

Jack Colwell & The Owls - Far From View

Sydney musician Jack Colwell and his band of merry men called The Owls are something special. Sounding like a mix of Patrick Wolf, The Spinning Wheels and Nick Cave, they create beautiful songs with layers of strings and dramatic storytelling. Latest single 'Far From View' is a tale of love, despair and awakening. If you are a fan of David Lynch (Twin Peaks) and Brian De Palma (Scareface) then the accompanying Video will have you in awe. Jump on board now and if you live in Sydney, catch him perform live when he supports Ella Hooper at The Vanguard on Saturday March 29.

Gunns - Live by the Sea

Perth band Gunns play a mix of garage, surf and pop. "Live by the Sea" sounds like The Beach Boys and Nirvana had a baby with The Raveonettes (Don't know how that would work?!) but it would properly sound like this. Effortlessly cool as f#%k. Defiantly a band to look out for in 2014.

The Holidays - Home

Sydney band The Holidays have a new single out called 'Home'. It's the third taste from the band's album 'Real Feel', due out tomorrow (February 21 via Liberation Music). 'Home' feels like The Horrors went on a tropical holiday in Cancún and decided not to get high and party but instead feel the vibe and create some really beautiful textured spacey music. Some times you just need to relax and feel real.

Holy Holy - House Of Cards

We really enjoyed Holy Holy's last single 'Impossible Like You' in July last year and were wondering when this talented Melbourne duo would drop another gem? Lucky for us it's now and what a solid follow up. Called 'House Of Cards' and before you think of that US Drama TV series with yours truly Kevin Spacey, LISTEN to 'House Of Cards'. Yep, much better then anything on the boob tube right now.

Violet Swells - Jupiters Garden

Timothy Leary once said the very famous quote 'Turn on, Tune in, Drop out.' and when you are in a psychedelic state, you are plugged into the multiplex network of energy exchanges around you and this multiplex of energy is what Tasmania's Violet Swells have created in their single 'Jupiters Garden'. Warm sonic fuzziness, layers of reverb and that MGMT vocal sound will have you floating in outer space. Watch the video here. Purchase the track and B side 'Only' for a very handsome name your price from their bandcamp and watch out for when they play a town near you.

DMA's - Delete

Never judge a book by it's cover. When I first saw a photo of Newtown trio DMA's, I instantly thought that it might be some hybrid hiphop dance act but was I wrong. Hearing first single 'Delete' was just the opposite. Smart garage pop with clever lyrics that brings up all those warm nostalgic feelings inside you. Having signed to I Oh You without even playing a live show, the label must have seen something special in this band and I can't wait to hear more. Watch the video for 'Delete' and pre-order the self titled EP here before it's officially released on the 28th March.

Sticky Fingers - Gold Snafu

The boys from Sticky Fingers have a new single out called 'Gold Snafu'. Stream it below but I would suggest watching the hilarious video which has been released with it. Set in 1970 at some derelict mattress factory in the Suburbs, it follows the struggle of the owner saving his business from thugs and developers, while his staff get sleezy with the customers and have a good time. If you wanna see this track live before the lads jet off to Europe, catch them on tour this March.

Lurch & Chief - Mother/Father

When I first heard this track, I thought that it reminded me of End Of Fashion's 2009 hit 'O Yeah' but then after a couple listens, I realised that Melbourne 6 piece Lurch & Chief are nothing like End Of fashion and single 'Mother/Father' of their Ep 'Whipped out' is a dam good song. The male and female duel vocals, coupled with creative guitar work and lyrics like 'I wanna get naked with your mother' just sealed the deal. Catch them when they launch the single at The Liberty Social in Melbourne on Saturday 15th of March or catch them when they tour with Stonefield later that month.

King Tears Mortuary - Grease Trap

I don't know about you but I did my time in the hospitality industry and one of the filthiest jobs a young dish pig could do, is clean the grease traps. Oh man did that suck! Covered in bits of food, soaked in grease, while smelling like a sewer turd. At the end of the day you really think about quitting. Don't know if 'Grease Trap' by King Tears Mortuary is about the bands time in the kitchen, but it's a mighty fine tune, even though it's over in just over a minute. You'll want to grab a copy of their forthcoming EP 7" 'Asleep At The Wheel Of Fortune' in April or pre-order one here.

Sweet Shoppe - Apartment

I came across this track and straight away fell in love with the distinctive vocals. After doing some research, I found out the vocals belong to Anja Loughhead who plays in a Canberra super group Sweet Shoppe. This band features members of Sex Noises, Mornings and Beach Slut (Great band names). 'Apartment' was first released on Cinnamon Records mixtape titled Spice Rack, December 2013. But now you can grab their EP titled 'Taste It!' from their bandcamp.
