The Grease Arrestor - Spirit Bodies

'Spirit Bodies' is the new track from Sydney's The Grease ArrestorA warm country-tinged psych pop ballad with jangly guitar and yes, there is the whole Anton Newcombe vocals, but that said I can totally see these 4 rad dudes and one dandy lady locking themselves in some South Coast cabin and having a trippy instrumental acid folk jam, where they create beautiful songs and don't give a fuck if you hear them or not. And that's what it's about man, the music not the hipster beads.

Super Wild Horses - Ono In A Space Bubble

Normally I would say listen to the song, then watch the video but I suggest you do it vise versa today as Super Wild Horses video 'Ono In A Space Bubble' is something special, you see, I love grape fruit, pagans, witch craft, cross dressing hippies and colour projectors that can been seen at most art grad shows. Oh, and the song ain't half bad either. Enjoy.

Dappled Cities - Many Roads

Dappled Cities formerly Dappled Cities Fly have a new single out called 'Many Roads' this track sounds like it could have been written on the lusty couch of Sydney funk lord Donny Bennet, when that bass hits it feels like I'm listening to Silver Apples. Yep, I could get used to this new Dappled Cities sound. 'Many Roads' is the first track off their new album to be released January 17, 2014. You can pre-order the album here.

Au.Ra - Spare The Thought

Sonic space echos, reverb drenched riffs and distant 90's drum twists are just some of the qualities that are present in single 'Spare The Thought'.
Au.Ra are Tom Crandles and Tim Jenkins, they used to live in Sydney and now call London home, which makes sense when you listen to their experementive  dark pop music. This track is off a 7'' which is out on the 18th November through Portuguese label LebensStrasse Records. Let your mind wander as you take this sound scape in..

City Calm Down - Speak To No End

Here at SPK we don't really delve into the electronic music variety, not because we don't like it but because there is so much music we would rather share, that said if it's something special like the music of Banoffee, then we're all ears. Melbourne four piece City Calm Down are something different. 'Speak To No End' was released world wide today. It shows the bands experimenting with influences from post-punk, 80's disco, indie and pop. These guys are the new wave taste makers in Australia.

Immigrant Union - I Can't Return

They say their music "sounds like Creedence Clearwater Revival being molested by Spiritualized" and I have to agree, plus I hear plenty of The Dandy Warhols. That would happen when one member of Melbourne based psych-folk/country band Immigrant Union is Brent DeBoer from the Dandy's.  'I Can't Return' is the second single off their sophomore studio album 'Anyway'. You can grab this single from the bands Bandcamp for a dollar.

DZ Deathrays - Northern Lights

These two mofos from DZ Deathrays have been busy touring for the past 18 months and today they released 'Northern Lights' off their forthcoming LP which will be released in the first half of 2014. 'Northern Lights' Is different from DZ's normal in-you-face-punk-rock, it starts of slow and by the end, when the cymbals come crashing and they repeat 'the Northern Lights' over and over, you'll be in a daze, your head spinning and trying to find the repeat button on your stereo.
