Twin Beasts - Badlove

Do you remember that Melbourne band The Toot Toot Toots? There was much lost in translate with people referencing their name to expelling intestinal gas and other fart jokes, luckily that is all behind them since they renamed themselves Twin Beasts. Check out their new track 'Badlove'. Recorded with Burke Reid (The Drones, Oh Mercy, Gerling), this is the first single off their upcoming second album expected to drop in February 2014.

ME - Sleepwalker

Having toured throughout Europe with Kasabian, Death From Above 1979 and Panic! at the Disco to name a few, Melbourne outfit ME has all the rock'n'roll moves and credentials every band would want. Recorded in Berlin where the band have now relocated, new single 'Sleepwalker' is full of heavy licks and precise drumming, mixing the old and the new like the offspring of Led Zeppelin and The Datsuns, this track is stadium gold with a new skool edge.

HAMJAM - LOVE

We all love jam & ham, fig jam, applewood smoked ham, plum Jam, Christmas ham, anyway you get the idea... We also love Perth lofi garage rockers HAMJAM. 'LOVE' is the work of James, Ham-ish, Clinton and Thomas who all live in the capital of psych rock - Perth. Similar to Tame Impala, The Silents and Pond, their fuzzy garage rock has elements of punk and shoe gaze, all drenched with summer vibes. 'LOVE' is the only track on their SC (Free Download), so let's hope they give us more tasty tunes to sink our teeth into ASAP.

Gang Of Youths - Evangelists

'I've made more friends in hell, then I've made in jesus land' a striking lyric that sits amongst the baron landscape that Gang Of Youths create on their new single 'Evangelists'. Emotive, raw and a little morbid at times this track has a beautiful driving pace which lets you glide along the mountain tops and forget just a little.

Wizard Oz - Bad Dreams (TV Colours Cover)

Here at Soundproof Kennel we love TV Colours Album 'Purple Skies, Toxic River' so much that when we were sent this cover of 'Bad Dreams' by Melbourne duo Wizards Oz, we got pretty excited! I'm not too familiar with these Wizards but they go by the name of Richie and Rusty and they have released most of their work on a little label called Peking Tapes. Their psychedelic lofi pop hit the spot with this cover and with an album due to be released later in 2013, we can't wait! Watch this space..

Seekae - Another

Deep and soulful are the lyrics "I want another girl" from Alex Cameron on Seekae's new track 'Another'. It's their first release since +Dome two years ago. This track had a beautiful yet dark quality to it. Mixing minimal electro and bowie-esque vocals, it's a strong indication of what's to come from seekae's forthcoming third album, due out in early 2014 on Future Classic. Catch the boys on their Australian tour, which starts in Melbourne tomorrow night.

Tales In Space - In A Million Places At Once

Up and coming Sydney electro rock duo Tales In Space have just dropped their second single 'In A Million Places At Once' off the bands debut album. This pop-rock-electro-funk number will have you grooving as if you adopted Modest Mouse's and Hot Hot Heat's love child! Filled with big guitar/keyboard riffs and disco style drum loops, this track will be released on August 30th to purchase.

Bushwalking - High Hogs

Ela Stiles' vocals weave and duck over Karl Scullin's edgy guitar, which sounds disjointed, almost broken, all the while bandmate Nisa Venerosa (Fabulous Diamonds) harmonising with Stile creates a wall of sonic beauty. 'High Hogs' is Bushwalking's second single from their album 'No Enter' (out September 6 via Chapter) Interesting and very refreshing from this Melbourne three-piece, I can't wait to hear the rest of the album.

Featuring members of Hot Palms, Pencil, Totally Mild and Scotdrakula. Zone Out create beautifully crafted ambient pop. The Ninjas - Yeah Yeah

Fuck off party rockers The Ninjas are back with their new release 'Yeah Yeah'. This track is full of big riffs, tight drumming and fuzzy vocals. I feel like i'm at a massive house party with The Scare, The Dandy Warhols and The Vines but those bands have been replaced by The Ninjas and it's fucking awesome! Happy Fridays.

Mega Ogre - The Ethereal Darkness Beyond Planet Earth (T.E.D)

“This is Major Tom to Ground Control, I’m stepping through the door, and I’m floating in a most peculiar way" for some reason the new one 'The Ethereal Darkness Beyond Planet Earth' aka 'T.E.D' from Brisbane's Mega Ogre made me think of Mr Bowie, maybe it's the interstellar synths or the lashings of the drum skins or the good drenching of sonic reverb. Like hydrogen atoms combining in the bellies of blue giants in galaxies far away, Mega Ogre are a breath of fresh air. You can jump on board and purchase 'T.E.D' from their Bandcamp.

The Ocean Party - Split

"When I go to work everyone get's to hang out, I wanna join them but I was told I have to work" It's hard been a 20 something year old and having to get a job, when all you want to do is go under the sea and have a massive ocean party with all your friends. Instead of doing these boring adult things, like looking for a job, The Ocean Party has written a song about it and it's a dam fine lo-fi pop song. 'Split' is taken from The Ocean Party's forthcoming record 'Split', out Friday 27th September through Spunk. Dreamy beachy vibes from a band that started in Wagga Wagga. Awesome.

Soviet X-Ray Record Club - Magnetic North

Having a soft spot for bands like The Raveonettes and The Horrors, it was hard not to fall in love with the psychedelic rock n roll sound from Brisbane's Soviet X-Ray Record Club. New single 'Magnetic North' has a very distinctive driving bass line, with swishy reverb drenched guitars flowing over the soothing vocals from front man Steven Appleton. 'Magnetic North' will be launched on 24th of August in Brisbane and also be available from their bandcamp on that day.

Magic Bones - Fire Song

Mixing 60s garage, 70s rock and 80s new wave punk,  Melbourne’s Magic Bones have ticked a couple boxes. Their new single 'Fire Song' is raw, sharp and the 70s rock duet works really well. They're taking it around Australia throughout September and October, so do yourself a favour and catch Magic Bones live when they're in a town near you.

The Gooch Palms - We Get By

If your not familiar with The Gooch Palms, then let me speed you up. One boy, one girl who play (very catchy) raucous punk rock. One half loves getting nude on stage, with only his guitar hiding his privates, while the other bashes her drum skins with such ferocity, while maintaining her feminine mystique. This duo are a must see live but till they play a town near you, suck on their new one 'We Get By' which is lifted of their debut album 'NOVO'S' out 4th October through the good folk at Anti Fade Records.

Money For Rope - Nova Pilota

The old saying "Too many cooks, spoil the broth" is something that does not apply to six-piece Melbourne rock band Money For Rope, having four dudes on vocals, two drummers, two guitars and a bass player. Their new '60s garage-inspired single ‘Nova Pilota’ is a perfect example of their craftsmanship,  blending elements of rock, grunge, psych and shoegaze, this track is impossible not to like. Catch them when their tour starts next week.

These young lads have been making plenty of catchy music the last 12 months (just check out their Soundcloud) Crafty chorus' and driving bass lines as the one in 'Picasso's Saddest Love', will have you fall in love with these scallywags and their good time tunes.

The Ancients - Molokai

You're walking through a utopian wonderland about to make contact with an alien being, only to be transported to a meadow full of foreign flowers. The late afternoon sun is falling softly, while you slip into a deep sleep only to wake and wonder was it all a dream? Creating beautiful landscapes is what Melbourne's The Ancients do well. 'Molokai' is the latest single from their third album 'Night Bus' out through Chapter Music October 18. Float and get carried away with 'Molokai'.

Birds With Thumbs - Clarence

Birds with Thumbs facebook says they play Thrashmetal/ghettorap but that is not the case. I hear good old garage rock. Call it slacker pop, lofi punk, it doesn't really matter,  It's two thumbs up minus the bird. The Sydney trio just dropped their first single 'Clarence' from their upcoming EP 'Cats and Other Dangerous Animals' due out early September. Download 'Clarence' for a very handsome 'name your price' at their Bandcamp.

Darren Sylvester - Dream Or Something Like That

Photography, video, sculpture, performance and music, Darren Sylvester  dabbles in a lot of different mediums that many of us wish we could (and he does it all with artistic credibility). His new single 'Dream Or Something Like That' released through Chapter Music Oct 4th is the first taste of his upcoming second album 'Off By Heart'. 80's Synth pop, bowie style vocals and a really catchy chorus, this track is beautifully executed.  Catch Mr Sylvester in Melbourne for his single launch later this month.
