SHAKY HANDZ - And Tim Said

SHAKY HANDZ are a lofi punk band from Sydney. 9 days ago they dropped their first single 'And Tim Said' and only joined Facebook early this month. Other than the fact they play catchy garage punk and draw cool cartoon critters, I don't know much about them. But who really cares? It's great to have bands like SHAKY HANDZ popping up around town. While we wait for more music, you can purchase/download 'And Tim Said' from their Bandcamp.

Damn Terran - Lost

Having a reputation as one of Melbourne’s rawest live bands. Damn Terran take their scruffy rock to another level with their new single 'Lost'. The back and forth male female vocals sit nicely with the layers of fuzzy guitar and driving bass lines. Catch this post-punk trio on the road in October when they tour their self-titled debut LP in Australia. Due out on the 20th September.

Holy Holy - Impossible Like You

Inspired 70's rock 'Impossible Like You' is the first anthem from Holy Holy, the project of guitarist/producer Oscar Dawson (Melbourne) and singer/songwriter Timothy Carroll (Brisbane). Carroll's dreamy story telling vocals complement Dawson's edgy 80's sonic guitar work. It's music most wouldn't dismiss. Take mum out when Holy Holy tour with Ainslie Wills next month.

Violent Soho - In The Aisle

Cargo pants, Airwalks, redskins, nintendo 64 and long summer nights when you would hang out way past dinner time at the local skate park, these nostalgic memories run riot when I listen to 'In The Aisle' the first single to be taken from Violent Soho's forthcoming LP 'Hungry Ghost'. Like Green Day, Bad Religion and Offspring, bands I'd listen to growing up, this track is about the good times. It's raw slacker punk attitude is just what the Australian music scene needs. 'Hungry Ghost' is out September 6, 2013 through I OH YOU.

House of Laurence - 86 Tour (Drifting Haze)

Tranquil beauty, sonic experimentation and daytime dreaming are some of the things that come to mind when I hear House of Laurence's track '86 Tour (Drifting Haze)'. It's smooth transitions from fuzzy psychedelic rock (Tame Impala) to the dark explosive riffs (Sydney's Dead China Doll) and warm story telling vocals reminiscent of Pink floyd and Queen. This track has it all. The Melbourne lads released their self titled Ep back in Nov 12' and I'm glad it got to my ears when it did. If your a fan of this track, then you won't be disappointed with the rest of the Ep.

GO/NO-GO - Desperate Romantics

Go-No/Go are 5 piece from Sydney, who play a combination of new wave, indie dance and electroclash. Think the love child of The Editors, Franz Ferdinand and Arctic Monkeys then throw in some influences from 80's post punk bands from the UK and your close. Their first single ‘Desperate Romantics’ is off their new album 'Holding Pattern'.

Hoodlem - Through

'Through' is the first single from Melbourne electronic act Hoodlem. The female vocals are dreamy. The spaced out minimal beats will have you swaying from side to side and the over all production on this synth-pop number is crafted and refreshing. If you enjoy this track then I'd say look out for more amazing things to come from this relatively new artist.

Ride Into The Sun - Hunt Like Wolves

Reverb drenched guitars, tambourine and classic droned out rock and roll licks is the popular psychedelic sound of the last couple years. Bands like The Black Angles been the main international leaders of this ever increasingly popular genre. One such band in this vain is Adelaide's Ride Into The Sun.  They have just released a mini self-titled record, which will have you hypnotically humming along. If you're in their hometown this weekend catch them when they play with The Morning After Girls, another shoegaze band worth checking out.

Saturday, 6th July: Jive Bar, Adelaide.

Vancouver Sleep Clinic - Vapour

Bon Iver's "Skinny Love" was an amazing song in 2007 and still is, you probably still listen to 'For Emma, Forever Ago' when your feeling emo. Just as Atmospheric and honest is 'Vapour', the first single from Vancouver Sleep Clinic. Bedroom producer Tim Bettinson maybe still in high school but his singer/song writer skills and production on this track are years ahead of his time. If your a fan of Bon Iver and Grizzly Bear, you'll love 'Vapour'.

Going Swimming - Sluts Who Stole Our Palm Tree

It really sucks when sluts steal your palm tree and what better way to vent your anger and disappointment then to write a 1:38 minute surf punk number! That's exactly what Melbourne four piece Going Swimming have done. It's short, sharp and makes you wanna dance and shake. To celebrate their new single, the band are squeezing into a van and venturing along the east coast for a whirlwind run of shows. Be sure not to miss these party monsters* when they're in your town!
